The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster early showing last autumn.

On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer updated team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a clearer vision.

Ismailer expressed that the developers is now overhauling the project with a revised focus, aiming to better meet player expectations.

The news mirrors a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Through your commitment and flexibility, especially over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.

The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It confirmed the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had work to do. It uncovered the need for a sharper vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You embraced the feedback to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its ambition to our fans.

The trust in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the incoming Director of the team. After a period of talks, he starts with us on Monday, October 20.

His guidance and background in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having devoted the last 15 years creating and managing some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
